Dear Valued Client:

As your trusted insurance agent we would like to keep you informed on new legislation that is going into effect January 1, 2018.  The Paid Family Leave act has been approved and will allow your employees to put a claim into your disability policy for various types of qualifying events such as child birth, care for a family member with a serious illness or a qualifying military event to name a few.

We have attached several documents from one of our carriers that we hope will assist you in understanding your responsibility as the employer and your employees rights going forward.

If you haven't already spoken to your accountant or payroll company regarding the new deduction allowances in payroll you may want to reach out to them as you could start payroll deductions effective immediately to help defer the increase in premiums that your company will incur on your New York State Disability renewals come 2018.

Please call us anytime and speak to one of our knowledgeable representative to go over the Paid Family Leave Act. 631-563-8433
